Raiders Fall to Bulldogs in Conference Opener

The Pierce College Raiders softball team faced a challenging Bellevue squad over the weekend, coming away with two tough losses but showing promising offensive performances in game one. The Raiders fell 24-7 in the opener and 10-2 in the second matchup.

In game one, Samantha Tungsvik reached base consistently, scoring two runs and drawing three walks. Taylor Smith contributed two hits and an RBI, while Nola Reily added a hit and drove in two runs. Amber Burgess made a memorable collegiate debut, launching a home run in her first at-bat, finishing the game with two runs, two hits, an RBI, and a stolen base. A’Juana Haywood also showcased her power with a solo home run, scoring twice and adding an RBI and a walk. Amelia Lopez added to the offensive burst with a triple and two RBIs. Tungsvik started on the mound, pitching three innings with two strikeouts, before Karen Cervantes-Macias closed the game with one inning of relief and one strikeout.

Game two saw the Raiders’ offense struggle, managing just two hits. Emma Loera reached base twice with a hit and a walk, scoring one run. Nola Reily added a double, one run, and an RBI. Karen Cervantes-Macias battled through a complete game in the circle, striking out three.

The Raiders’ scheduled home matchup against Shoreline was postponed due to rain and will be rescheduled later this season. Pierce will now turn its focus to a weekend road trip to British Columbia, where they will take on Douglas College in a four-game series.
