The Pierce Raiders came within an out of a big road win on Saturday, March 7th, but a late Bellevue rally flipped the script as the Bulldogs swept the doubleheader in Bellevue, winning 9-8 and 6-5.
Game One - Bellevue 9, Pierce 8
Pierce’s offense came out swinging in Game one, putting together a strong performance at the plate in a tightly contested battle that went down to the final inning.
The Raiders were led offensively by Jackson Copeland, who had a big game at the plate with three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI. Andrew Dyk also produced a strong outing with two hits and two RBI, while Christian Dominno drove in two runs of his own. Yacel Limonta added an RBI as Pierce kept the pressure on Bellevue’s pitching staff.
Additional offensive production came from Tristan Ringrose, who finished with two hits and two runs scored, while Kai Halstead added a hit and scored once.
On the mound, Santiago Guedez-Rodriguez gave Pierce five solid innings, striking out five while allowing three runs. The Raiders held the lead late, but Bellevue mounted a comeback in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three runs to complete the 9-8 walk-off victory.
Game Two – Bellevue 6, Pierce 5
Pierce looked to bounce back in Game two and again stayed within striking distance throughout the contest.
The Raiders were sparked offensively by Tristan Ringrose, who delivered two hits and drove in two runs. Kai Halstead had a strong game with two hits and an RBI, while Jackson Copeland added another RBI. Nariyuki Dumlao crossed the plate twice as Pierce worked to chip away at the Bellevue lead.
On the mound, Gavin Thunstrom started the game and allowed two earned runs over 3.1 innings. Drechen Vinoray-Pereira, Alex Campos, and Kyondre Rhoads combined to finish the game in relief.
Trailing late, the Raiders mounted a final push in the top of the seventh, rallying for four runs to threaten a dramatic comeback. However, Bellevue was able to hold Pierce at five total runs, securing the 6-5 victory and the Saturday sweep.
