Raiders Stay Hot with Series Sweep, Win 11 of Last 12 Games

Pierce College continued its dominant stretch of baseball on April 17 at home, sweeping Centralia for the second straight day with an 8-4 win in game one and an 8-0 shutout in game two. With the pair of victories, the Raiders have now won 11 of their last 12 games, including a 3-1 series win over Tacoma and back-to-back sweeps of Grays Harbor and Centralia.

Game 1 - Pierce 8, Centralia 4

Pierce opened the day with another balanced offensive attack, scoring in bunches late to pull away for an 8-4 win.

The Raiders were led offensively by Yacel Limonta, who drove in four runs, including a key two-run double in the eighth inning that helped break the game open. Jeb English also came through with a big performance, finishing with two hits and two RBIs, while Christian Dominno added a double and an RBI. Nariyuki Dumlao set the tone at the top of the order, reaching base multiple times and scoring three runs in just one official at-bat.

Pierce struck early and often, taking advantage of timely hits and Centralia miscues to build momentum. After leading 2-0 early, the Raiders answered every Centralia push, including a decisive fifth inning that helped swing control back in their favor. The game was put away in the eighth when Limonta’s two-run double capped a four-run surge.

On the mound, Santiago Guedez-Rodriguez earned the win after working 4.2 innings, allowing just two runs while striking out four. Koshi Arai followed with 4.1 innings of relief, limiting Centralia to two runs and helping preserve the lead late.

Game 2 - Pierce 8, Centralia 0

Game two was all Pierce from start to finish, as the Raiders delivered a dominant 8-0 shutout behind elite pitching and steady offense.

Michael LeJeune set the tone on the mound with one of his best outings of the season, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out 10 without issuing a walk. Braden Bedell followed with two perfect innings of relief, striking out three and maintaining the shutout.

Offensively, Pierce struck early and never looked back. Bradley Carl went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a walk, while Jeb English drove in three runs, including a two-RBI single in the first inning and a sacrifice fly in the third. Jackson Copeland added two hits, an RBI, and a stolen base, and Yacel Limonta, Kai Halstead, and Nariyuki Dumlao all contributed RBI production as part of a balanced lineup effort.

The Raiders jumped ahead immediately with a three-run first inning and continued to extend the lead throughout the game, including a three-run seventh that put the game out of reach.

With the sweep, Pierce continues to build serious momentum down the stretch of the season. Pierce sits in second place in the west with a record of 11-5.

Up Next: Pierce will observe a bye week and then return to the field Thursday, April 30th as they host Olympic College at 3pm and 6pm.
