Pierce College Baseball dropped both games of a conference doubleheader at Clark College on Thursday, May 7, falling 4-2 in extra innings in game one before a 1-0 loss in the nightcap.
Game 1 - Clark 4, Pierce 2
In game one, the Raiders carried a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh behind a strong outing from Michael LeJeune. Bradley Carl opened the scoring in the third inning with an RBI groundout that plated Christian Dominno, and Pierce added another run in the seventh when Nariyuki Dumlao doubled home Dominno.
Dominno paced the offense by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases, while Bradley Carl added two hits and an RBI. Dumlao and Jackson Copeland each collected doubles as Pierce totaled seven hits in the opener.
LeJeune was dominant through seven innings, allowing just one run while striking out seven. Clark cut the deficit to 2-1 on a solo home run in the seventh before rallying in the eighth with three runs to walk off the Raiders, 4-2.
Game 2 - Clark 1, Pierce 0
Game two featured a tight pitchers’ duel as Pierce was edged 1-0 by Clark in the series finale.
Santiago Guedez-Rodriguez delivered another standout outing for the Raiders, tossing 7.2 innings while allowing just one run on four hits and striking out five.
Pierce collected five hits in the loss, led by Bradley Carl’s 2-for-3 performance. Nariyuki Dumlao, Kai Halstead, and Christian Dominno each added hits, while the Raiders were aggressive on the bases with four stolen bases as a team.
Clark finally broke through in the bottom of the eighth inning with an RBI walk and held Pierce scoreless the rest of the way to complete the doubleheader sweep.
