Raiders Swept by Everett in Weekend Series

The Pierce College Raiders closed out their four-game series on Sunday, March 1st, with a doubleheader at Everett, falling 9-2 in game one and 11-3 in game two. The losses completed the series sweep for the Trojans and dropped Pierce’s overall record to 6-6 on the season.

Game One – Everett 9, Pierce 2

Everett jumped out early in the opener, plating six runs in the first two innings to take control. Pierce starter Josh Moore (0-1) worked 1.1 innings, allowing six runs on three hits. A solo home run highlighted the early surge for the Trojans.

Drechen Vinoray-Perreira provided stability out of the bullpen, tossing 5.2 innings while allowing just two runs on five hits and striking out five. Eddie Winkley added the final inning of work.

Offensively, Pierce was limited to four hits but worked seven walks. Ethan Brimble recorded a double and scored one of the Raiders’ two runs. Andrew Dyk and Hudson Cunningham each drove in a run, with Cunningham also collecting a stolen base. Nate Soto added a stolen base as well.

Despite putting runners on base, Pierce stranded nine and struck out 11 times as Everett secured the 9-2 victory.

Game Two – Everett 11, Pierce 3

The Raiders looked to bounce back in game two, but Everett’s offense stayed hot, totaling 17 hits in the 11-3 decision.

Koshi Arai (0-1) started on the mound, allowing four runs over three innings. Freddy Frias-Moreno followed, giving up five runs in two innings of relief, while Broq Powlus closed out the final three frames.

Pierce collected seven hits in the nightcap. Nate Soto led the way with a 3-for-4 performance and scored a run. Nariyuki Dumlao reached base three times with a hit and two walks, also scoring once. Jeb English delivered a key two-RBI single, and Andrew Dyk added an RBI. Jackson Copeland doubled for the Raiders’ lone extra-base hit.

Christian Dominno drew two walks, scored a run, and added a stolen base as Pierce worked eight free passes in the game. However, 12 runners were left on base, limiting scoring opportunities.

Everett’s consistent offensive pressure throughout the afternoon secured the sweep and handed the Raiders their sixth loss of the season.
