Raiders Sweep Olympic on the Road to Secure Series Victory

The Pierce College baseball team bounced back in a big way on the second day of its series against Olympic College, sweeping the road doubleheader with 9-2 and 6-3 victories to secure the series win.

After splitting the opening two games, the Raiders responded with dominant pitching and timely hitting, outscoring Olympic 15-5 on the day.

Game 1 - Pierce 9, Olympic 2

Pierce jumped on Olympic early and never looked back in the opener, building a 9-0 lead behind an explosive offensive performance and seven shutout innings from Santiago Guedez-Rodriguez.

The Raiders struck first in the opening inning when Tristan Ringrose ripped an RBI double to left field to score Nariyuki Dumlao. Later in the inning, Yacel Limonta added a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 2-0.

Pierce kept the pressure on in the second inning as Dumlao delivered an RBI single before Bradley Carl added a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.

The biggest inning came in the fourth, highlighted by Ringrose’s second double of the game, driving in two more runs. Limonta followed with an RBI double to extend the advantage to 7-0.

Dumlao continued his strong day at the plate with an RBI double in the fifth inning, while Jackson Copeland added another run in the sixth on a fielder’s choice.

Ringrose finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI, and three runs scored. Dumlao also had a huge performance, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Limonta added two RBI, while Bradley Carl and Copeland each drove in runs.

On the mound, Guedez-Rodriguez was dominant, tossing seven scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out seven to improve to 4-0 on the season. Drechen Vinoray-Perreira closed out the final two innings.

Game 2 - Pierce 6, Olympic 3

Pierce completed the sweep in game two behind another strong pitching performance and a clutch sixth inning at the plate.

After five scoreless innings, the Raiders broke through in the sixth when Kai Halstead lined a two-run single to center field, scoring Bradley Carl and Dumlao. Moments later, Jeb English delivered another big hit with a two-run single to right field to extend the lead to 4-0.

Pierce added two insurance runs in the eighth inning. Halstead scored on a passed ball before Hudson Cunningham drove in Jeb English with an RBI single to make it 6-0.

Olympic attempted a late comeback in the ninth, but the Raiders were able to shut the door and complete the sweep.

Halstead led the offense by going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while English finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Cunningham also added an RBI hit.

Michael LeJeune continued his outstanding season on the mound, throwing eight innings and allowing just one run while striking out seven to improve to 3-0. Braden Bedell and Koshi Arai combined to finish the game in relief.

With the sweep, Pierce claimed the series victory and continued its strong push through the final stretch of the season.
