Raiders Split Opening Doubleheader at Shoreline
The Pierce College baseball team opened its 2026 season on the road, splitting the first two games of a four-game series against Shoreline College. The Raiders battled through extra innings in the opener before bouncing back with a dominant offensive performance in game two.
Game 1: Shoreline 12, Pierce 11 (10 innings)
Pierce fought until the final pitch in the season opener but came up just short in a 12-11 extra-inning loss.
The Raiders pounded out 11 hits and built momentum throughout the contest. Christian Domino led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two stolen bases. Bradley Carl added a pair of hits and two stolen bases, while Tristan Ringrose collected two hits and drove in two runs. Jackson Copeland also contributed two hits and two RBIs.
Pierce generated early offense and stayed aggressive on the bases, finishing with five stolen bases as a team.
On the mound, Vayden Lawrence started and threw 4.0 innings, allowing one earned run while striking out five. Broq Powlus provided 3.2 innings of relief with seven strikeouts. Gavin Thunstrom and Freddy Frias-Moreno also saw time out of the bullpen, with Frias-Moreno tossing 1.2 innings and striking out one.
The Raiders carried an 11-9 lead into the later innings, but Shoreline rallied to tie the game and eventually walked it off in the 10th, handing Pierce a tough opening loss.
Game 2: Pierce 15, Shoreline 3
Pierce responded in a big way in game two, exploding for 15 runs on 15 hits to even the series.
The Raiders wasted no time setting the tone, plating four runs in the first inning and continuing to apply pressure throughout the game.
Christian Domino had another strong showing, going 4-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Bradley Carl added two hits and two RBIs, while Tristan Ringrose drove in two runs. Yacel Limonta contributed a hit and an RBI, and Jackson Copeland continued his productive day at the plate.
Kai Halstead delivered a big performance with three hits and three RBIs, and Nariyuki Dumlao added three hits and an RBI. Pierce tallied extra-base hits from Limonta and Halstead to fuel the offense.
On the mound, Keenan Masters earned the win with 4.0 strong innings, striking out one and allowing just one run. Hunter Eisele and Josh Moore combined for four innings of relief to close out the victory.
The Raiders’ balanced offensive attack and steady pitching secured a 15-3 win, giving Pierce its first victory of the season.
Pierce will look to carry that momentum into the final two games of the four-game series as the season continues.
