Bio

Lynnette Butler’s journey into coaching is one defined by heart, resilience, and a deep-rooted love for community. Born into a military family, Lynnette spent her early childhood on an Air Force base in Ohio before moving at the age of ten to a small town in the Texas Panhandle following her father’s retirement. The unique experiences of growing up both within a structured military environment and in a tight-knit rural town instilled in her a strong sense of discipline, adaptability, and the value of connection—qualities that would later shape her coaching philosophy.

Lynnette first discovered her passion for coaching in Puyallup, Washington, where she began as a volunteer recreational cheer coach for the Puyallup Roughriders. What started as a simple act of service soon blossomed into a lifelong calling. She found inspiration in the opportunity to influence young athletes—not just in terms of athletic performance, but in helping them grow into confident, resilient, and kind individuals. For Lynnette, cheerleading has always represented more than stunts and routines—it’s a space where teamwork, discipline, and joy intersect in a way that builds character for life.

Having cheered herself when she was younger, Lynnette has always held a deep appreciation for the sport and has loved witnessing its evolution over the years. Since officially stepping into the coaching world in 2016, she has worked with several teams and organizations, including the Puyallup Roughriders, Puyallup Cheer Academy, Emerald Ridge High School, and Cascade Christian Junior High. Most recently, she joined the program at Pierce with the mission of revitalizing it and guiding it back to excellence.

Lynnette brings with her a breadth of training and certifications that reflect her dedication to athlete safety and development. She is Stunt Safety Certified, First Aid/CPR Certified, and has completed numerous courses through USA Cheer and the NFHS, along with annual WSCCA clock hours. Her proudest coaching moment to date came when she led her team to a second consecutive state championship and then made history by bringing Emerald Ridge High School to UCA Nationals in Orlando for the very first time. Witnessing her athletes experience that moment of triumph and joy was, for Lynnette, a memory she will cherish forever.

Her coaching philosophy centers on instilling values that extend far beyond the cheer mat—integrity, perseverance, accountability, and compassion. She sets high expectations, not out of pressure, but out of belief in her athletes’ potential. Lynnette works tirelessly to foster a team environment that feels like a second family, where athletes are seen, heard, and uplifted.

Outside of coaching, Lynnette works at Rogers High School and cherishes time spent outdoors with her family and dogs. Whether camping along Washington’s stunning coastlines or enjoying the mountains, nature is where she finds balance and joy. A lifelong Disney enthusiast, she often draws inspiration from Walt Disney’s famous quote: “We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” It’s a sentiment that perfectly captures her approach to life and leadership.

Lynnette also has a love for all sports—especially high school and college football, basketball, softball, and baseball. When she isn’t coaching, she occasionally lets her creative side shine through digital design projects for friends and local businesses.

What fuels Lynnette’s passion year after year is the profound impact she gets to make in her athletes’ lives. She hopes each one leaves her program knowing they were truly valued and supported, carrying with them a greater sense of confidence, self-worth, and the unforgettable experience of being part of something greater than themselves.
