Raiders Battle in Second Half but Fall to Green River
The Pierce Raiders men’s basketball team fell at home to the Green River Gators, 97-75, after a tough first half proved too much to overcome.
Green River came out firing, building a 56-34 advantage at the break. Despite the early deficit, Pierce matched the Gators point-for-point in the second half, with both teams scoring 41 after halftime, but the Raiders were unable to close the gap.
Isaac Norris led Pierce with 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting, adding eight assists and four rebounds in a strong all-around effort. Ishe Kanhukamwe poured in 22 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and going a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line.
Dylan Jay contributed 13 points, including three shots from beyond the arc, while Josiah Gopaul added nine points to go along with seven rebounds and four steals. Mande Wanlemvo provided a steady presence inside with eight rebounds, six points, and three assists.
As a team, Pierce shot 46.3% from the field (31-of-67) and finished with 31 total rebounds and 14 assists. The Raiders battled defensively, forcing eight steals, but 14 turnovers and Green River’s hot first half proved costly.
