Highline Slips Past Raiders, 66-65
The Pierce Raiders men’s basketball team came up just short on Saturday afternoon, falling 66-65 to the Highline Thunderbirds in a tightly contested West Region matchup.
The loss moves the Raiders to 1-1 in West Region play as both teams battled down to the final possession. Pierce showed grit throughout the game, responding to every run by Highline and keeping the contest within reach until the closing seconds.
Dylan Jay led the Raiders offensively with 20 points, adding 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Isaac Norris delivered an all-around performance, finishing with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals, providing energy and leadership on both ends of the floor.
In the paint, Mande Wanlemvo recorded a strong double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds, while also contributing 4 assists and 1 block. Ishe Kanhkamwe impacted the game beyond the box score, totaling 3 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.
Despite strong defensive efforts and balanced production, the Raiders were unable to overcome the narrow margin as Highline secured the one-point victory.
