Raiders Dominate Highline in Doubleheader Sweep

The Pierce Raiders softball team closed out their series against Highline College in commanding fashion, sweeping the T-Birds with decisive 15-2 and 21-2 victories. Over the two games, the Raiders outscored Highline 36-4 and racked up a staggering 39 hits.

In game one, the Raiders exploded for 17 hits in a 15-2 rout. Noelani Souza led the charge with three hits, including a double and a triple, while Taylor Smith launched her first homerun of the season as part of a three-hit performance. Kayla Jarreau and Madison Septon added two hits apiece, while Nola Reily, Amelia Lopez, Lanissa Amacher, Ava Lewis, and Samantha Tungsvik each contributed a hit. Tungsvik was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete 5-inning game and striking out 9 while allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits.

The offensive onslaught continued in game two, where the Raiders tallied 22 hits en route to a 21-2 win. Taylor Smith turned in another stellar performance with three hits, including a pair of triples. Emma Loera launched a three-run homer in the third inning and was one of eight Raiders with multiple hits. Karen Cervantes-Macias stood out on both sides of the ball, delivering four hits — two of them doubles — and pitching a complete 5-inning game with 8 strikeouts, allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits.
