Raiders’ Bats Stay Hot, But Pierce Drops Twinbill to Bellevue
The Pierce College softball team continued to show its offensive firepower on Sunday, March 29, but couldn’t keep pace with Bellevue in a pair of losses, falling 11-6 in game one and 9-5 in game two. Despite the setbacks, the Raiders’ lineup remained one of the most dangerous in the NWAC, now tied for fourth in the conference with 32 home runs on the season.
Game 1: Bellevue 11, Pierce 6
Pierce wasted no time getting on the board, as Amelia Lopez launched a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Raiders an early lead. The offense stayed active throughout the game, collecting eight hits and drawing seven walks.
Amori Hargrove led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and a walk. Brooklyn Crass added a 2-for-3 performance with a double, an RBI, and a walk, while Alosina Fuiava provided a spark with a two-run home run and scored twice.
The Raiders chipped away in the middle innings, scoring twice in the fifth on a Crass RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Jadyn Johnson. Fuiava’s sixth-inning homer brought Pierce within striking distance, but Bellevue’s offense proved too much to overcome.
In the circle, Audrey Deviney tossed five innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) while striking out four. Aspyn Evanson worked the final two innings as Bellevue totaled 17 hits in the opener.
Game 2: Bellevue 9, Pierce 5
Pierce’s offense stayed productive in game two, racking up 12 hits, but a big Bellevue output again proved decisive.
Alosina Fuiava had a standout game, going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Hallie Beers added two hits, including a triple, and scored twice. Amori Hargrove remained consistent at the top of the lineup, finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI.
The Raiders found their rhythm in the middle innings, highlighted by a two-run home run from Brooklyn Crass in the fourth. Pierce added two more runs in the fifth on an Emma Loera two-run double to tie the game at 5-5.
However, Bellevue responded late to regain control, while Pierce was unable to generate another rally.
Karen Cervantes-Macias went the distance in the circle, allowing nine runs (five earned) on 10 hits while striking out six.
Up Next: Pierce will look to bounce back as they return home to host Highline College on Friday, April 3. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm, with game two set for 6:00pm.
