Pierce honored six sophomores - Emma Loera, Karen Cervantes-Macias, Amelia Lopez, Kayla Jarreau, Kaylie Marshall, and Jadyn Johnson prior to Saturday’s doubleheader, but Edmonds spoiled the celebration with a pair of high-scoring wins.
Game 1 - Edmonds 15, Pierce 7
Despite a strong offensive showing, Pierce couldn’t keep pace with Edmonds in a 15-7 loss in the opener.
The Raiders collected 14 hits, led by a big day from Kayla Jarreau, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Hallie Beers added two hits, including a triple, while Alosina Fuiava also recorded a multi-hit game with an RBI.
Pierce got on the board in the second inning when Amelia Lopez delivered a two-run single to score Jarreau and Johnson. They continued to chip away, adding runs in the third and fourth innings, highlighted by Jarreau’s three-run home run that cut the deficit to 9-7.
Karen Cervantes-Macias also contributed at the plate with two hits and an RBI, while Jadyn Johnson scored twice in the effort.
However, Edmonds’ offense proved too much, tallying 15 runs on 16 hits. Cervantes-Macias took the loss in the circle, throwing six innings and striking out three.
Game 2 - Edmonds 19, Pierce 5
Game two saw Edmonds’ bats stay hot as they secured a 19-5 win over the Raiders.
Pierce showed flashes offensively, totaling seven hits. Audrey Deviney led the way with a 2-for-3 performance, including a double and two runs scored. Alosina Fuiava also had a strong outing, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
The Raiders manufactured runs early, scoring twice in the second inning on RBI walks from Karen Cervantes-Macias and Emma Loera. They added three more in the third, highlighted by Fuiava’s two-run double and another RBI from Cervantes-Macias.
Jadyn Johnson reached base multiple times and added two hits, while Hallie Beers chipped in with a hit and a run scored.
In the circle, Deviney started and went three innings, while Aspyn Evanson provided relief. Edmonds combined for 21 hits and four home runs in the game.
