Raiders Open Season at Lower Columbia

The Pierce College softball team opened the 2026 season on the road, traveling to Lower Columbia for a season-opening doubleheader. Despite showing improvement offensively in game two, the Raiders fell in both contests.

Game 1: Lower Columbia 10, Pierce 0

Pierce was limited to two hits in the opener, with Hallie Beers and Jadyn Johnson each recording a base knock.

In the circle, Karen Cervantes-Macias started and threw 3.0 innings, allowing five hits and six runs (three earned) while walking three and striking out one. Aspyn Evanson pitched the final inning, giving up two hits and four earned runs with two walks and one strikeout.

Lower Columbia capitalized on early opportunities to build a lead and secure the 10-0 win.

Game 2: Lower Columbia 14, Pierce 6

The Raider offense came alive in game two, finishing with six runs on 10 hits.

Audrey Deviney and Amelia Lopez each doubled, while Alosina Fuiava drove in two runs. Deviney and Yzanah Smith also added two RBIs apiece to pace the lineup. Pierce applied pressure on the bases, as Brooklyn Crass and Amelia Lopez each recorded a stolen base.

Pierce put together a strong third inning to shift momentum and stay within striking distance, but Lower Columbia responded late to pull away for the 14-6 final.

In the circle, Aspyn Evanson pitched 1.1 innings, allowing four hits and eight earned runs while walking four. Audrey Deviney followed with 2.2 innings of relief, surrendering six hits and six runs (five earned) with three walks.

The opening weekend provided valuable early-season reps for the Raiders, who showed offensive growth in game two as they continue to build momentum moving forward.
