Raiders Sweep Shoreline with Late-Game Surge and Dominant Finale

Pierce softball continued its strong stretch at home with a doubleheader sweep of Shoreline, taking game one 8-5 before closing the day with an emphatic 8-0 run-rule victory in five innings.

Game 1: Pierce 8, Shoreline 5

Pierce overcame an early deficit and used a big fifth inning to power past Shoreline 8-5 despite recording just two hits on the day.

Patience at the plate proved to be the difference, as the Raiders drew an impressive 11 walks and capitalized on multiple Shoreline defensive errors. Karen Cervantes-Macias provided the biggest swing of the game, launching a two-run home run and finishing with three RBI.

After trailing early, Pierce got on the board in the third when Alosina Fuiava reached on an error that brought in a run. Cervantes-Macias cut the deficit further in the fourth with her home run, plating Emma Loera.

The game turned in the fifth inning when the Raiders took advantage of control issues and miscues. Kayla Jarreau and Loera each drew RBI walks, while another Shoreline error allowed another run to score, giving Pierce a 7-4 lead.

Hallie Beers scored on a sacrifice fly from Kaylie Marshall in the sixth to add an insurance run.

In the circle, Pierce used a two-pitcher effort. Aspyn Evanson started and allowed four runs (two earned) over three innings, while Cervantes-Macias came on in relief to earn the win, tossing four innings and allowing just one run while striking out four.

Game 2: Pierce 8, Shoreline 0 (5 innings)

Pierce completed the sweep in dominant fashion, shutting out Shoreline 8-0 in five innings behind a powerful offensive showing and a lights-out performance in the circle by Audrey Deviney. Deviney was nearly untouchable, allowing just one hit while striking out 11 in a complete-game shutout.

The Raiders wasted no time getting on the board in the third inning as Hallie Beers and Deviney hit back-to-back solo home runs to give Pierce a 2-0 lead. Pierce added two more runs in the fourth, highlighted by a sacrifice fly from Emma Loera and aggressive baserunning that led to another run scoring on a passed ball. The offense exploded in the fifth inning to put the game away. Kaylie Marshall delivered a two-RBI single, and Loera followed with a two-run double to cap the scoring.

Marshall finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Loera drove in three runs. Jadyn Johnson also contributed with a double and scored twice.

Up Next: Pierce will travel to Yakima, WA for the NWAC Crossover Tournament on April 11-12.
