Raiders Sweep Cardinals at Home

Pierce softball put together an offensive showcase on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping Skagit Valley at home with a 17-9 victory in game one followed by an 11-4 win in game two. The Raiders totaled 28 runs and 19 hits across the doubleheader while getting contributions throughout the lineup.

Game 1 - Pierce 17, Skagit Valley 9

The Raider offense erupted late to pull away in a back-and-forth opener that featured 26 total runs.

Pierce struck first in the opening inning when Kaylie Marshall delivered a two-run single to score Hallie Beers and Amelia Lopez for an early 2-0 lead.

The Raiders continued to add on in the third inning behind RBI singles from Jadyn Johnson and Kayla Jarreau to make it 4-1. After Skagit Valley battled back to take the lead, Pierce answered in the fourth when Alosina Fuiava lined a two-run double to cut the deficit to 9-6.

Pierce tied the game in the fifth inning with a rally sparked by an RBI single from Amelia Lopez, an RBI walk from Audrey Deviney, and another RBI walk from Fuiava. Marshall then gave the Raiders the lead with an RBI fielder’s choice to put Pierce ahead 10-9.

The Raiders exploded for seven more runs in the sixth inning to seal the win. Deviney drew another RBI walk before Fuiava added an RBI single. Jadyn Johnson capped off a strong day with a two-run single, and Jarreau followed with an RBI single as Pierce pulled away for the 17-9 victory.

Fuiava finished with four RBIs, while Marshall also drove in four runs. Johnson added three RBIs, and Jarreau collected two hits and two RBIs. Lopez scored three times, Hallie Beers crossed the plate three times, and Deviney walked four times while driving in two runs.

Aspyn Evanson earned the win in relief, tossing two shutout innings with two strikeouts after entering in the fifth inning.

Game 2 - Pierce 11, Skagit Valley 4

Pierce carried the offensive momentum into game two, scoring 11 runs through the first three innings to complete the sweep.

Audrey Deviney opened the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run before the Raiders broke the game open in the second. Kaylie Marshall ripped a two-run double, Hallie Beers added an RBI single, and Deviney followed with an RBI double to extend the lead to 6-0.

The Raiders added five more runs in the third inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Hallie Beers. Alosina Fuiava and Kayla Jarreau each added RBI singles during the inning as Pierce pushed the advantage to 11-1.

Deviney finished a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run, double, and two RBIs, while Beers drove in four runs with her three-run homer. Marshall added two RBIs and scored twice, and Fuiava also collected an RBI hit.

Aspyn Evanson earned her second win of the season in the circle, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five over four innings.
