Raiders Split with Wenatchee Valley on Sunday

The Pierce College Raiders softball team earned a split on the road Sunday, March 1st, overpowering Wenatchee Valley 14-4 in game one before falling 6-3 in the second contest.

Game One – Pierce 14, Wenatchee Valley 4

Pierce’s offense erupted in the opener, piling up 16 hits in a five-inning run-rule victory.

Brooklyn Crass led the charge from the leadoff spot, going 1-for-3 with three runs scored, three RBI, two walks, and a home run. Alosina Fuiava had a huge performance at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Amelia Lopez added three hits and two RBI, while Kayla Jarreau drove in four runs on the day.

Kaylie Marshall collected three hits and scored twice, and Hallie Beers contributed a hit, an RBI, and scored three runs. As a team, the Raiders totaled 14 runs on 16 hits with five walks and did not strike out.

In the circle, Karen Cervantes-Macias earned the win, tossing three innings and allowing three runs while striking out three. Aspyn Evanson closed out the final two innings, surrendering just one run and striking out one to secure the 14-4 victory.

Game Two – Wenatchee Valley 6, Pierce 3

The Knights responded in game two, capitalizing on timely hitting and drawing eight walks to take the 6-3 win.

Pierce collected seven hits in the nightcap. Brooklyn Crass and Hallie Beers each recorded a hit, while Jadyn Johnson reached base twice with a hit and two walks. Emma Loera went 1-for-3 and scored a run, and Shelby Mason added a hit. Yzanah Smith drove in a run, and Pierce tallied three runs on the afternoon.

In the circle, Aspyn Evanson started and allowed four runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two. Audrey Deviney followed with three innings of relief, giving up two runs (one earned) while striking out two.

Despite keeping the game within reach, Pierce couldn’t overcome Wenatchee Valley’s six-run output, settling for the split on the road.

The Sunday split wrapped up a strong road weekend for the Raiders, who finished 3-1 over the four-game stretch and now sit at 3-5 overall on the season.

Up Next: Pierce will head to Pasco for the Preseason Crossover Tournament. On Saturday, March 7th, they’ll take the field against Grays Harbor at 3:00pm and Blue Mountain at 5:30pm. On Sunday, March 8th, they’ll play against Umpqua at 9:00am and Clark at 11:30am.
