Women’s Track and Field Competes at NWAC Championships

The Women's Track and Field team competed in the NWAC Championships on Monday and Tuesday, May 20-21, in Gresham, Oregon. The Raiders placed in the top 15 of all events they participated in.

Gabriela Martinez-Duran qualified for the 3000m Steeplechase, placing 5th overall with a time of 12:28:57, just one one hundredth of a second behind the fourth place finisher who crossed the line at 12:28:56. Gabriela's time was 11 seconds faster than her previous Steeplechase event at the Linfield Open in April.

For her second event, Gabriela qualified for the 5000m race where she placed 9th overall with a time of 20:04:30.

Pray'cesslily Kamuta competed in the Women's Shot Put, the first ever NWAC Championship field event for Pierce College. Pray'cesslily placed second overall in the event with a distance of 12.72m.

MJ Faagua completed in the Women's Discus throw, placing 14th overall with a distance of 28.67m.
