Injuries Challenge Raiders at Holiday Classic

The Pierce College Raiders battled through a weekend of tough competition at the 21st Annual Raider Holiday Classic, dealing with a short bench due to injuries.

On Friday, Pierce faced Whatcom College in a closely contested matchup but fell 58-49. Adhau Chol recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, along with 1 assist, 1 steal, and 3 blocks. Tia Schanbeck added 9 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 2 blocks, while Jane Wanjiku contributed 9 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Maesha Muaau posted 8 points and 11 rebounds, along with 1 assist and 1 steal. Martha Jessop added 8 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and a block.

In the second game of the tournament, the Raiders faced Lane College and were overpowered in a 97-39 loss. Wanjiku led the team with 19 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals, while Jessop posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, adding 2 assists. Schanbeck added 5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Muaau contributed 3 points, 3 rebounds, and a steal, and Chol added 2 points and 3 rebounds.

Pierce will look to rebound as they travel to Gresham, Oregon for the Mt. Hood Crossover from December 12-14, taking on Yakima Valley, Mt. Hood, and Olympic.
