Raiders Fall to Trailblazers on the Road
The Pierce Raiders women’s basketball team dropped a road contest to the Centralia Trailblazers, 92-62, on Wednesday, January 28, at Centralia College.
Pierce stayed competitive early, trailing by just five after the first quarter, but Centralia used a strong second and third quarter surge to create separation. The Trailblazers outscored the Raiders 56-27 across the middle two quarters to take control and pull away for the win.
Martha Jessop led Pierce with a game-high 26 points, shooting 12-for-21 from the field while adding eight rebounds. Jane Wanjiku finished with 15 points, five rebounds, three steals, and two blocks, while Alicia-Ellalynn Soliai contributed eight points and six rebounds. Maesha Muau recorded a team-high 11 rebounds, and Tia Schanbeck added five assists and three steals for the Raiders.
Pierce was unable to slow Centralia’s offensive momentum in the second half, as the Trailblazers finished with 92 points on the night. With the loss, the Raiders move to 1-19 overall and 0-6 in NWAC West Region play.
Up Next: Pierce will have a week off before returning to action against Highline on Friday, February 7, at 3:00 p.m.
