The Pierce College Raiders opened their 2025 season on the road in Bellingham, WA, with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Whatcom.
Grace Atkinson made an early impact, scoring her first career goal in the 24th minute on an assist from Jasmine Carrada. The Raiders carried that momentum forward when Elena Iniguez found the back of the net in the 37th minute, set up by Ruby Pearson.
Despite the early lead, Whatcom responded and managed to outpace the Raiders over the remainder of the match. Goalkeeper Rylee Kline recorded three saves as Pierce pushed for an equalizer late but fell just short in their season opener.
Up next, they'll head to Salem, Oregon on Tuesday and Wednesday for the NWAC Friendlies. They'll take the field against Portland CC and Blue Mountain in the two-game showcase.
