Raiders Split Matches on Opening Day of East Region Crossover
The Pierce College Raiders volleyball team opened play at the East Region Crossover with two hard-fought matches, falling to Bellevue before bouncing back with a dramatic five-set victory over Wenatchee Valley.
In their first match of the day, the Raiders faced a tough test against No. 1–ranked Bellevue, who entered the event with an undefeated record. The Bulldogs earned a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-11, 25-12). Fiona Mallory paced Pierce with 8 kills, 2 service aces, and 6 digs. Audrey Fries and Janaila Roeurth each contributed 2 kills, while Taylor Kilen added 1 kill for the Raiders.
Pierce responded in their second match with their second win of the season, defeating Wenatchee Valley in an exciting five-set battle (30-32, 21-25, 28-26, 25-22, 15-11). Fiona Mallory led the way with a standout performance, tallying 19 kills and 23 digs. Audrey Fries added 13 kills, 5 service aces, and 16 digs, while setter Eseta Saunders Tauiliili controlled the offense with 43 assists, 6 kills, 6 service aces, 19 digs, and 2 solo blocks. Janaila Roeurth chipped in 5 kills, 2 service aces, and 23 digs, and Taylor Kilen added 4 kills, 1 ace, and 13 digs.
The Raiders return to the court on day two of the crossover, where they will face Clackamas and Lane.
